Why we love it
Matcha is all the rage these days, from sugered-up matcha drinks at Starbucks to the highest grade, shade-grown green tea straight from Japan. Made from grinding the whole dried green tea leaf, matcha is loaded with antioxidants and amino acids. It’s particularly high in the amino acid L-theanine, which creates a time-release effect so the caffeine (1/4 of the caffeine of coffee) is delivered more slowly and there’s no jittery coffee buzz.

Our friends over at Breakaway Matcha in San Anselmo, CA have the best matcha we’ve found and you can order it online. You won’t regret it!

10 Day Health Challenge Lemon-Energizer-Aid

Ingredients:
3 servings
½ cup fresh lemon juice (about 3 lemons)
1 T raw honey
½ tsp. ginger juice or fresh grated ginger
¼ tsp. turmeric or a few drops of turmeric extract
⅛ tsp. cayenne (or more if you like it spicy!)
2 ½ cups water, hot or cold

Directions:
Combine everything is a jar or container with a tight lid and shake well. Since raw honey if often hard as a rock, it’s helpful to mix it first with a few spoonfuls of hot water to make it dissolve, then add it to the rest of the mixture. Feel free to adjust the honey levels if it’s too tart.

Why we love it
Lemons are one of the best sources of vitamin C, which is super important during this time of year when the flu is going around. It’s a blood purifier and cleansing agent. Having some lemon water in the morning is an excellent idea because it helps your digestion get going and helps your body produce bile.
